Velá de Santa Ana 2026 in Triana: Dates and Concerts

Seville's biggest summer festival returns to Calle Betis with its traditional stalls, the greasy-pole game and musical performances by the river.

Event Description

The arrival of mid-July brings one of the oldest, most eagerly awaited and most traditional celebrations of Seville's summer calendar: the iconic Velá de Santiago y Santa Ana 2026 in the emblematic Triana neighbourhood. Officially considered the city's biggest summer festival, this event completely transforms the appearance of Calle Betis and Plaza del Altozano between July 21 and 26, 2026, attracting thousands of neighbours, Sevillians from other districts and tourists who come to enjoy popular culture right on the banks of the Guadalquivir river.

During the days of the Velá de Santa Ana 2026, the historic Triana bridge becomes the entrance arch to an ephemeral precinct full of light, colour and paper lanterns. Visitors can enjoy the traditional public stalls set up facing the river, where it's customary to sample the local gastronomy — most notably the classic "pescaíto frito" (fried fish), skewers and green hazelnuts, accompanied by cold drinks to combat the temperatures of the Seville night. In the evenings, the Guadalquivir river takes centre stage with the famous cucaña contest, a fun game where young people compete to reach a flag by climbing along a greased pole suspended horizontally over the water.

At night, Plaza del Altozano becomes a great open-air stage hosting a different musical show each day, including copla galas, flamenco, sevillanas and pop music by well-known local artists. If you're planning your summer nights in Seville, this free-entry festivity offers an unbeatable atmosphere that reflects the authentic essence of the Triana character. We advise getting there by public transport (Plaza de Cuba Metro stop or bus lines connecting with the city centre) due to traffic restrictions at the entrances to the neighbourhood during that week. Don't miss this magical summer experience at the foot of the Guadalquivir.
